American actress Jennifer Leann Carpenter was born December 7, 1979. She is famous for her role as Debra Morgan on the Showtime series Dexter, for which she was awarded an Saturn Award in 2009, and also for playing Rebecca Harris in the CBS television series Limitless. Carpenter began her role as Erica Shepherd, the main character in the NBC drama The Enemy Within, in 2019. Carpenter's performance in The Exorcism of Emily Rose was her first major hit. Carpenter was awarded the 2006 MTV Movie Award "Best Frightened Performance" and an Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. She was named Breakout Performer at the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They got married in California on New Year's Day 2008. Hall and Carpenter made public in December 2010 that they were filing for divorce following separation "for several years". They also made public appearances together at the 66th Golden Globe Awards in January of 2009. On February 10, 2015, it was revealed that Carpenter and singer Seth Avett were engaged and expecting their first child. Carpenter was 8-and-a half months pregnant when she was featured on Limitless the pilot episode. Carpenter and Avett were married in May 2016.
